Elden Brooks

Elden is a multidisciplinary creator and renaissance man, or as diagnosed in the DSM--he has  ADHD and Bipolar. His favorite fun fact about himself (besides having a cool wife and two cute boys and going from a Mazda Miata to a Ford F-150 and building Crokinole boards on the side) is the fact that he has played improvised piano for Improv Broadway for over a year and a half. His best kept secret? He cannot actually improvise on piano, but no one has caught him yet so he keeps faking it. Oh, and Elden also writes stories for fun.

Elden is currently a stay-at-home dad. He worked at Costco for almost 9 years but after the birth of his second child, felt the need to be home more. He’s half-Asian (his mom is from Cambodia) and is proud of that heritage. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2013 at the age of 20 and was diagnosed with ADHD when he was almost 30. This is not unheard of, but he’s not sure how no one noticed sooner.

Maddie Brooks

Maddie has been married to Elden for a few years now and is still getting used to his spontaneous and sometimes crazy ideas. They have two kids together and spend lots of time chasing their toddler while trying to pacify their 6-month old. Maddie has a degree in Arts Administration and School Counseling and works at Utah Valley University. She loves all things theatre except actually being on stage or having to perform. Instead, she’d much rather be behind the scenes or helping her mom direct. This works out well for her marriage because Elden likes to be the center of attention. What a loser. Maddie loves to travel and hopes to take her husband to New York someday so he can see a real Broadway show.

Michael Phelps

Sometimes the unofficial “M” in E + M Club, Michael is one of the resident builders who helps Elden with any number of random projects. Michael and Elden were roommates for four ish years. They started building crokinole boards out of Elden’s basement and have been friends ever since. Michael has worked in just about every field and currently uses his CDL to drive bigger trucks than Elden’s little F-150. He is one of the few opponents in Utah who can consistently give Elden a run for his money in crokinole and also in guitar.

Zach Kelly

Zach is an electrician by trade and has helped with several E+ M Club projects over the years. He is the only person Elden or Maddie have seen do a “The Impossible push-up” in person.
